Mercon V is the ATF fluid recommended for the F-150. To replace the power steering fluid, begin by locating the clear plastic container under the hood near the window. Use a pump to remove all the fluid from the container. As the fluid level decreases, turn the steering wheel first all the way to one side and then all the way to the other. This action will allow the fluid in the wheel to drain into the container, which should be removed as well. Once the container is empty, refill it up to the full line, being careful not to overfill. It may take some time for the steering wheel to start working smoothly again, so consider driving for about 20 minutes to ensure that the process was successful.

For the F-150 trucks made in 2004 and later, it is advised to use Mercon V as the designated automatic transmission fluid.
