The 2014 Ford Escape requires Dexron VI synthetic transmission fluid that can be purchased off-the-shelf. The transmission fluid capacity is 4 quarts, but if you are just topping off, you may not need that much. Typically, a quart of transmission fluid costs around $8.50 or $30 for a gallon, such as Valvoline's MaxLife option. It is recommended to perform a complete transmission fluid flush when your Escape reaches around 150,000 miles to remove any accumulated particles. To add fluid to your Escape, open the hood and prop it up. Check the fluid level using the dipstick, then remove the dipstick and place a funnel in the access point. Pour a quarter of the fluid container at a time, checking the level after each addition until the transmission fluid reaches the correct level.
