Owners of the 2013 Toyota Corolla had their cars recalled due to an airbag issue. After the airbag replacement, many were informed that their timing covers were leaking engine oil. This has become a frequent complaint, but Toyota has not yet provided a solution. Generally, oil leaks under the timing cover happen because of a faulty gasket. The gasket, which seals the cover to the engine block, can fail due to high temperatures, environmental wear, dirt, and debris from the road. A cracked or failed gasket leads to oil leaks. In some Corollas, these leaks might be small and slow, making them harder to detect. On average, fixing a timing cover can cost about $1,900, including parts and labor.
