The 2005 Mazda Tribute recommends using synthetic 5W-20 motor oil for better engine longevity and performance. While you could use conventional oil in a pinch, it's best to stick with synthetic due to its added benefits. If you do use conventional oil temporarily, make sure to switch back to synthetic at the next oil change, which is typically every 3,000 miles. The oil capacity of your Tribute is 6 quarts, including the filter, which should be the WIX51372. Your vehicle also requires synthetic gear lubrication, either SAE 80W-90, A75W-90, or 75W-110 for the differential, and A75W-140 for the transfer case. For the clutch and brakes, use DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid, including in the clutch system.
