The thread size of the bolts in the Ford Ranger bed is 8mm x 1.25. When working with lug nuts on a car, it's important to be cautious to avoid damaging them. Over-tightening can lead to bolt snapping or stripping, particularly with older or rusted bolts. If the lug nuts strip, they will just spin in the socket, making it hard to remove them. In such a case, a mechanical press may be necessary to push them out, but this could harm the vehicle. If a bolt snaps, you will need to access it from behind and unscrew it in reverse, possibly requiring you to lift the car with a jack.

The Ford Ranger bed requires two types of bolts for installation. The two bolts nearest the cab are 12mm x 1.75 x 120mm, while the remaining four are 12mm x 1.75 x 100mm in size.
