The VW Golf Mk7 key fob is powered by a CR2025 battery, with the numbers indicating the size in width and depth, measured in millimeters. It typically lasts for 2 to 4 years. When it's time to replace the battery, you can do so in just a few minutes by following these steps: Remove the key and gently open the fob using a flat tool like a butter knife or screwdriver. Swap out the old battery with a new one, making sure the positive side faces up. Put the back cover back on, and your key fob should work as good as new.

I own a mk7.5 with a CR2025 battery. To remove the key, press the button and there will be a space where the key is placed when closed. Open the cover by lifting it up (it's pretty simple). Remember to replace the old battery with a new one right away to avoid reprogramming. If you wait too long, you may have to reprogram the key.

In 2017, my Golf 7.5 requires a CR 2025 battery for its key fob; a CR 2032 battery is not compatible with it.
