Type 2 coolant commonly used in most Honda vehicles is the regular "green" ethylene glycol AF, which is preferred. Honda may have decided to change its color at some point, but it is not anything special or unique. Therefore, you do not necessarily need to use the specific Honda coolant.

I generally agree with the other response regarding the green glycol being equivalent. Although I am not familiar with the specific regulations on color coding, I do know that when I had my Honda Element serviced at 180,000 miles with a top-end rebuild, they used green antifreeze, and it performed well for nearly three years. Therefore, I am inclined to use a bottle of Ford green glycol intended for late 90s Fords, as it seems to be a reliable option. While there are different types of antifreeze available, such as phosphate organic technology, it's unclear where this variant fits in. So, I cannot provide a definitive answer, but based on my positive experience, green glycol appears to be a suitable choice for my Honda Element.
