In order to change the 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 differential fluid, you'll need to use GL-5 SAE 75w90 gear oil. Before starting the oil change, ensure that the vehicle has been turned off for a couple of hours to avoid burning yourself with hot oil. Locate the oil pan and drain plug underneath the engine compartment. Place a bucket below the plug, remove it, and allow the oil to drain completely, which could take about an hour. Once it stops dripping, replace the drain plug and find the intake port on the top of the oil pan. Use a funnel to fill the oil pan to the full mark, being careful not to overfill to prevent leaks and oil burn off. After filling the oil pan, close the port, clean up any spilled oil, and you're done with the process.
