For all versions and years of the Hyundai Elantra, make sure to use regular unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. There's no need to use premium fuel unless the engine specifically requires it, and the Elantra's engine does not. Also, don't use E85 as Hyundai vehicles are not Flex Fuel enabled. Stick with regular unleaded 87 for optimal performance and cost-effectiveness, as anything lower can lead to engine knocking and damage, while using higher octane fuel is just a waste of money.

Oh, I had my doubts about whether using a higher octane gas would really matter. Turns out, I was wrong in thinking it wouldn't make a difference. Normally, I fill up my Elantra with 87 octane gas, but I decided to give 93 octane a try to see for myself. And let me tell you, it definitely made a noticeable difference. I felt an increase in power right away, and even my automatic transmission seemed to shift gears more quickly. I know the type of gas shouldn't affect the transmission, but it just felt more responsive overall. Hopefully, my experience can be helpful to anyone who comes across this.

Gasoline requirements for the Hyundai Elantra. Your new car should only be filled with unleaded gasoline that has an octane rating of 87 (so-called Research Octane Number 91) or higher. This type of fuel helps your car operate at its best, while also helping to lower emissions and prevent spark plug issues.

I noticed a significant improvement in the performance of my vehicle when I switched to premium fuel. My car has been running more efficiently, with the fuel gauge hardly moving over the last 45 miles. I've decided to stick with premium fuel from now on.

87 octane fuel is preferred, but 85 octane fuel is not recommended.

One option is to say "87 octane gasoline," which refers to a type of fuel with an octane rating of 87. This means that the fuel has a lower resistance to compression compared to higher-octane fuels.
