The 2001 Buick Century uses SAE 5W-30 synthetic oil and holds 4.5 quarts including the filter. For a DIY oil change, start by opening the oil cap in the hood. Under the car, loosen and drain the oil plug, then tighten the bolt back. Remove the oil filter, making sure the rubber gasket comes off with it, as it can sometimes stick. The filter thread size is M18 X1.50. Replace the filter, then refill the reservoir with the specified amount of oil. Start the car for roughly 10 seconds, turn it off, then check the oil level using the dipstick - make sure it falls between the MIN and MAX marks.
