The recommended oil for a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 5.7 hemi is mopar sae 5w-20 engine oil. To change the oil, ensure the vehicle has cooled down for a few hours to avoid burning yourself. Locate the oil pan and drain plug underneath the engine compartment. Place a bucket under the plug to catch the draining oil. Let the oil drain completely, which could take about an hour. Then, replace the drain plug and find the intake port on the top of the oil pan. Fill the oil pan using a funnel, being careful not to overfill. It's better to be slightly underfilled than overfilled to prevent leaks and oil burn off. Once filled, close the port securely, clean up any spilled oil, and the oil change is complete.
