The 2004 Mercedes-Benz C320 is equipped with either of two engine options, both being 3.2L 6-cylinder engines. One is compatible with Flex Fuel, while the other is not. Both engines, however, require 7.9 quarts of oil. It is suggested to use SAE 0W-30 full synthetic oil, but the C320 is adaptable to various types based on the climate conditions. Mercedes advises using either 0W-30 or 0W-40 for all temperatures. For temperatures above -13F, options include 5W-30, 5W-40, or 5W-50. Above -4F, 10W-30, 10W-40, 10W-50, or 10W-60 can be used. If operating solely above 5F, 15W-40 or 15W-50 can be applied. Temperatures above 23F permit the use of 20W-40 or 20W-50. It is recommended to lean toward thinner oils for better performance, with SAE 0W-30 being the top suggestion. Thicker oils can cause friction leading to premature wear and tear and early breakdown. In general, it is best to stick with the lowest oil weight as advised by the manufacturer, particularly in colder climates.
