The 2007 Cadillac STS comes in two out of four different setups, each offering a choice between two engines: the 3.6L V6 or the 4.6L V8. Both engines require SAE 5W-30 full synthetic motor oil, with the V6 needing 6.0 quarts and the V8 requiring 8.0 quarts. While using SAE 5W-40 as a short-term substitute is possible, it's not advised and certainly not recommended for the long run. This is because using oil with a higher weight can create friction and lead to premature wear, especially in colder weather conditions. Choosing the manufacturer's recommended oil with the lowest weight is the safest bet, even though it may be slightly more expensive, as it will help your engine last longer.
The Cadillac STS from 2007 requires engine oil that meets the specifications of SAE 5W-30.
