The 2017 Chevy Colorado comes with three engine options to choose from. The base model features a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine, while you can upgrade to a 2.8L 4-cylinder turbo diesel or a 3.6L V6 engine. If you have the base model, use synthetic 5W-20 motor oil with a capacity of 5 US quarts including the filter. The diesel engine requires synthetic diesel oil 5W-30 with a total fill capacity of 6 US quarts. The V6 engine uses 5W-30 but in cold climates, switch to 0W-30. The capacity is the same as the diesel engine at 6 US quarts.

To keep your V6 Colorado running smoothly, be sure to use synthetic 5W-30 oil to prevent early engine wear. The L4 diesel model requires dexos 2 5W-30 oil, while the regular L4 model takes 5W-20. You'll need 6 quarts for the V6 and L4 diesel, and only 5 quarts for the regular L4. Using the correct type and amount of oil is crucial for engine health. Adding too much or too little oil can result in serious engine issues, just like using the wrong oil can cause the same problems.
