The 2014 GMC Sierra should be filled with SAE 0W-20 for the 5.3L or 6.2L V8 engine, or SAE 5W-30 for the 4.3L V6 or 6.0L V8 engine. GMC advises using fully synthetic oil during oil changes. Nowadays, two main types of oil are available: synthetic and conventional. Synthetic oil, being more advanced, offers improved wear performance and longer lifespan compared to traditional conventional oil. Consequently, synthetic oil only needs to be changed every 7,500 miles, a longer interval than the 3,500 to 5,000 miles required for conventional oil changes. It is recommended to check the oil level and quality at least once per month to ensure it is at the correct level and free of any contaminants.

According to GMC, if you have the 4.3L engine, you should go for Dexos 5W-30 motor oil, while for the 5.3L and 6.2L engines, Dexos 0W-20 oil is recommended.
