For the 2017 Toyota Corolla, it is recommended to use either 0w-20 or 5w-20 synthetic oil for the engine. The former is ideal for cold weather conditions, while the latter is suitable for all-purpose use. To change the oil in the car, start by ensuring the vehicle has been parked and turned off for a few hours to allow the engine to cool down. Locate the oil pan in the engine compartment and find the drain plug underneath. Place a bucket under the plug and remove it, allowing the oil to drain completely into the bucket. Let it drain until it stops dripping, which may take about an hour. Once drained, put the plug back on and find the intake port on the top of the oil pan. Use a funnel to refill the oil pan to the full level, making sure not to overfill. It’s better to slightly underfill than to overfill to avoid leaks or oil burn off. After refilling, close the port, clean up any spilled oil, and you’re all set.
