In the 2005 Jeep Wrangler, the recommended oil is SAE 5W-30. For the 2.4 L 4-cylinder engine, the oil capacity is 4 quarts with a filter, while for the 4.0 L 6-cylinder engine, the oil used is also 5W-30 with a capacity of 6 quarts with a filter. Keeping the engine clean is crucial, so changing the oil every 3,000 miles along with the filter is essential. An oil change typically costs between $30 and $40 in labor. By performing the oil change yourself with basic tools like a drain pan, gloves, ratchet, and socket extensions, you can save both money and time.

Just a heads up, the Wrangler from 2005 and any Jeep at that time did not offer a V6 engine option. Instead, they came with a 4.0 inline 6 engine. The Pentastar V6 3.6L engine was introduced later in 2007 when they redesigned Jeeps.

The 2005 Jeep Wrangler with the 2.4L inline-4 engine needs 5W-30 synthetic oil, while the one with the 4.0L V6 engine requires 10W-30 synthetic oil.
