The 2006 Toyota Prius has a 5.4-quart oil capacity and requires 5W-30 viscosity oil. To change the oil in the car, first ensure that the vehicle has been parked and turned off for a couple of hours to allow the engine to cool down. Locate the oil pan in the engine compartment and find the drain plug on the underside. Place a bucket beneath the plug and remove it to let the oil drain into the pan. Allow the oil to drip until it stops, which could take about an hour. Once it has finished dripping, reattach the drain plug. Look for the intake port at the top of the oil pan, then fill the oil pan using a funnel but be careful not to overfill. It's okay to slightly underfill, but overfilling can cause leaks and oil burn off. When the oil pan is full, close the port, clean up any spilled oil, and you're done.
