The base engine in a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander was a 2.4L 4-cylinder. If you opted for a higher trim level or added the upgrade package, your vehicle would come equipped with a 3.0L V6 engine instead. Both engines require 0W-20 oil, which is suitable for all types of weather conditions as it does not freeze. The 2.4L engine holds 4.9 US quarts of oil including the filter, while the 3.0L engine holds 4.5 US quarts. To remove the oil drain plug, you will need to apply 30 ft-lbs of torque.
The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander is best suited for their own 100% synthetic oil, which has a viscosity of 0W-20. However, you can also use other high-quality synthetic oils and adjust the viscosity for different driving conditions.
