The 2014 Kia Rio requires synthetic 5w-20 motor oil and holds up to 5.4 US quarts. To change the oil, first ensure the car has been off and parked for a few hours to avoid burning yourself with hot oil. Locate the oil pan in the engine compartment, find the drain plug underneath, position a bucket beneath it, and remove the plug to let the oil drain into the pan. Allow the oil to drain completely, which may take around an hour. Once no more oil is dripping, replace the drain plug. Next, find the intake port on top of the oil pan and fill the pan using a funnel, making sure not to overfill. It's okay to be a bit under, but too much oil can cause leaks and burn-off. Once filled, close the port, clean up any spilled oil, and you're done.
