The 2014 Subaru Outback requires 5 quarts of 0w-20 oil for an oil change. To begin, ensure the vehicle has been parked and turned off for a couple of hours to allow the engine to cool down. Locate the oil pan in the engine compartment and find the drain plug beneath it. Place a bucket under the plug and remove it to let the old oil drain out completely, which may take about an hour. Once the dripping stops, replace the drain plug and find the intake port on top of the oil pan. Use a funnel to add oil until it reaches the full mark, being careful not to overfill. It's better to be a little underfilled than overfilled to avoid leaks and oil burning. Close the port, clean up any spills, and your oil change is complete.

The 2014 Subaru Outback can use a mix of synthetic and regular SAE 5W-30 oil. It's advised to go with synthetic, but if that's not an option, you can also opt for 10W-30 or 10W-40 regular oil.

The 2014 Subaru Outback 2.5L model requires 0w-20 synthetic oil, while the larger engine might use 5w oil, but not the 2.5L version.
