You should utilize GM Power Steering Fluid for the GMC Sierra. The power steering system usually does not require frequent maintenance, but if you notice any difficulty when turning the wheel, it’s time to check the fluid level. To do this, open the hood and locate the power steering fluid reservoir. The fluid level should be between the MIN and MAX indicators. When adding fluid, make sure the level is above the MIN mark but below the MAX mark on the reservoir. Note that some newer models, like the 1500 series, feature electric power steering that relies on an electric motor to move the tie rod ends connected to the wheels and does not use hydraulic fluid.
