In any modern Honda CR-V, the power steering system uses fully synthetic power steering fluid, which is available at local auto parts stores. Honda does not specify an exact mileage or time interval for replacing the fluid, so most owners monitor the fluid in the reservoir and perform a flush when the fluid appears significantly darker. The optimal way to flush the power steering system involves disconnecting the line to the steering rack, allowing all the fluid to drain, then reconnecting and refilling. Another popular DIY approach is to use a large syringe to extract all the fluid from the reservoir. After emptying it, refill with new fluid and repeat this process 4 to 5 times to ensure the system is filled with fresh power steering fluid.
