The Lexus LX470 requires any Dexron III transmission fluid that is compatible with its power steering system. In other words, you will need to use an ATF fluid for the power steering. A popular option for this is the Valvoline DEX/MERC ATF Conventional Automatic Transmission Fluid, which is identified by part number 798153 and costs approximately $7.50 per quart. If you experience challenges turning the steering wheel or hear loud noises, such as a shrill or screeching sound (not from your significant other), you may need to check and potentially refill the power steering fluid. While there could be other reasons for steering difficulties, it is often linked to the power steering fluid. If you notice that you are frequently adding fluid, there may be a leak that requires fixing.
