In 2006, the recommended transfer case fluid for the Honda CR-V is Synthetic Dexron VI Automatic Transmission Fluid. When changing this fluid, you should start by ensuring that the car is parked on level ground and then open the hood. Locate the transmission fluid reservoir, which can usually be found near the transmission itself, and locate the dipstick. Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, reinsert it, and then take it out again. Take note of the fluid level indicated on the dipstick and the volume needed to fill up the reservoir. Use a funnel to add fluid until the reservoir is full, or just below the full mark. It's okay to be slightly underfilled, but be careful not to overfill. Close the reservoir, and you're all set.
