For a 2007 Chevy Impala, you should use synthetic type ViATF transmission fluid, which should be changed every 30,000 to 60,000 miles. If you hear strange sounds coming from the transmission, it's likely time for a fluid change as old fluid can be noisy. A faulty torque converter can also lead to issues. The transmission is a vital component of your vehicle, and problems are inevitable. Symptoms like stuck gears, jerky movements, hard shifts, shuddering, delayed shifts affecting acceleration, and potential slipping can arise. If there's a transmission fluid leak, it should be fixed promptly.
The 2007 Chevy Impala requires fully synthetic Type VI automatic transmission fluid.
Dexron VI is best suited for full synthetic applications.
Maybe Dextron 5, possibly 6 by that time, but I don't believe so.
