The Kia Sorento has faced issues with its rear differential and axles, resulting in complaints of fluid leaks from the differential leading to significant loss of power and a loud noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. This problem occurs when the axles damage the differential, typically happening between 68,000 and over 100,000 miles. Owners have experienced rear axles breaking, causing holes in the suspension and differential as well as major lubricant leaks. Some owners had to replace the differential every 10,000 miles, with initial signs of failure showing around 24,000 to 34,000 miles. Warning signs before repair include banging and clunking sounds from the rear of the vehicle, grinding noises, wheel locking, and sudden loss of driving capabilities and power.

My 2015 Kia Sorento Lx, which has clocked 99500 miles, recently experienced a rear-end failure where the entire carrier got cracked in half. There were no previous leaks or problems. If this is a recurring issue with these vehicles, I won't consider purchasing another one in the future.

Certain rear axle issues in a 2014 Kia Sorento may arise from a defective rear differential, potentially resulting in damaged u-joints, an imbalanced driveshaft, or a fractured pinion gear.

I'm really upset that my 2014 Kia Sorento started having problems at 90,000 miles. I've had to replace the transmission twice, and now I'm on my third one. The rear differential and rear axles just failed at 100,000 miles. I have always taken good care of my car and kept it in pristine condition, so this is really disappointing. My old GMC Jimmy lasted until 189,000 miles before giving me any trouble. This experience has made me decide that I won't be buying another Kia.

My car is currently being repaired at the shop, and Kia informed me that the rear differential in my 2014 Kia Sorento is failing. I'm wondering if there has been a recall for this problem with this specific vehicle. The repair cost they quoted me is $5000.

How can I determine the year of production using the casting number for a 2017 Sorento?

I have a question to ask, but I wasn't sure where to ask it. Here it is: My 2020 Kia Sorento is currently at the dealer getting fixed for a cracked rear differential and it only has 19,303 miles on it. So, does this mean the differential will crack every 10,000 miles or is it just a coincidence that it happened at this mileage?
