The 2007 Ford Taurus often faces transmission issues like speed sensor problems, rough shifts, and slipping. The speed sensor measures wheel speed for the vehicle's computer system to adjust engine functions and shift points. Without accurate speed signals, the transmission may shift roughly or rapidly. If the wheel speed sensor malfunctions, you may not notice a performance change unless the ABS light turns on, especially on slick roads.

My 2007 Ford Taurus was running smoothly. When I finished work and hopped into the car, it wouldn't move in reverse or drive despite the engine running fine. I'm clueless about what went wrong with the car.

Walter and Willie, I'm experiencing the same issue. Have you been able to resolve it?

The transmission works fine, but when I encounter heavy traffic with frequent stops and starts, it struggles to shift into second gear unless I accelerate and then release the gas pedal. After that, it shifts normally. If I turn off the car for a few minutes, the shifting issue seems to resolve itself. I cannot figure out the reason for this problem.

We owned a 2002 Taurus and experienced similar issues that led us to discover a failed torque converter, which is a frequent occurrence around the 100,000-mile mark for this model. After replacing it, we were able to drive another 100,000 miles with no problems.
