The Honda Odyssey comes equipped with an electronic parking brake feature. This system activates the parking brake automatically when you shift the vehicle into park and deactivates it when you shift into gear. In the past, older vehicles had a manual parking brake system with a handle or pedal that would activate a cable to hold the parking brake in position. Nowadays, newer vehicles utilize a switch to control the cable for the parking brake. Typically located on the rear wheels, this brake serves to prevent the car from rolling away should it accidentally shift out of park while stopped.
