That's a somewhat unclear question: Are you asking about normal operations, when an audible and visual alarm is triggered, or if you're experiencing a failure? Let's quickly review what the collision mitigation brake system (CMBS) does. Essentially, when it senses a potential collision with a vehicle in front of you, it automatically applies the right amount of braking force to help you avoid or reduce the chances of a collision. If you come too close to a vehicle in front of you while traveling at more than 10mph, the system may sound a warning beep, apply the brakes, and tighten your seat belt. This action is only taken if there is a speed difference of over 10mph between you and the vehicle in front. The system relies on radar in the front grille of your vehicle, working together with the brake actuator in the engine compartment and the seat belt pretensioners. Any of these components could potentially fail. In some situations, like driving on a road with few vehicles around, you might see a "CHECK CMBS RADAR SENSOR" message—this is normal, so there's no need to worry about a system failure. If troubleshooting issues, the first step is to deactivate the system by turning off the CMBS using the switch on your dashboard, then turning it back on.
