If the radio controls on the steering wheel of your Chevy Sonic are not working, you should check the fuse box as the fuse is likely blown. To access the fuse box, look to the left of the steering wheel for a small seam or crack on the dashboard. Use a screwdriver or prybar to open this panel. Inside, you will see a number of fuses. On the back of the panel, there should be a diagram showing you the purpose of each fuse. If the diagram is not present on the back, you can refer to the vehicle's owner's manual. Identify the fuse that needs replacing and remove it. Check if the thin strip of metal connecting the two sections of the fuse is intact – if it's broken, the fuse is no longer functional and needs to be replaced. If the strip is intact, the fuse is still good and can be reinstalled. Replacement fuses are generally inexpensive, costing around $10.

The radio control buttons may not be functioning due to fuse issues, but it's probable that they are within the warranty coverage.
