The 4WD 2012 Toyota Highlander V6 can tow up to 2,000 pounds, but with the optional towing package, it can handle heavier loads of up to 5,000 pounds. This package includes a heavy-duty radiator and engine oil cooler to cope with the increased weight. Other features like a 200-Watt fan coupling, supplemental transmission cooler, 150 amp alternator, and prewired trailer light plug are also included. To check if the vehicle has the tow package, look for a hole on the driver side of the splash guard below the bumper and inside the driver side fog light. If the hole is present, the tow package is installed; otherwise, it's the standard model.
