The Ford Fusion's ambient lighting may cease to function due to either a burnt-out bulb or a faulty fuse. Replacing the bulb and fuse is a simple task, but locating the fuse box is crucial. To access the fuse box, look to the left of the steering wheel for a small seam or crack on the dashboard. Using a screwdriver or prybar, gently open this panel. Inside, you will find various fuses. Check the back of the panel for a diagram that shows the purpose of each fuse. If not found there, consult the vehicle's owner's manual. Identify the needed fuse and remove it by pulling it out. A functional fuse will have a thin metal strip connecting two raised sections. If this strip is broken, the fuse is faulty and needs replacing. Otherwise, the fuse is good to be reinserted. Replacement fuses are affordable, typically costing around $10.

A frequent cause of the Ford Fusion's ambient lighting not functioning is a blown fuse that regulates the lights.
