In a 2012 Nissan Altima, the AC relay can be found in the fuse box located to the left of the steering wheel. To access the fuse box, look for a small seam or crack along the dash and use a screwdriver or prybar to open it. Inside, there are several fuses. The back of the panel you opened will have a diagram indicating the purpose of each fuse. If the diagram is not there, you can also refer to the vehicle's owner's manual. When you identify the fuse you need, remove it by pulling it out. Check to see if the thin metal strip connecting the two sections of the fuse is intact. If it is broken, the fuse needs to be replaced. If the strip is not broken, the fuse is still good and can be reinserted. New fuses are affordable, typically costing around $10 each.
