In my 2010 ML, you can find both the auxiliary battery and the main battery located beneath the passenger seat. To get to the auxiliary battery, you'll have to take out the main battery first, which can be quite a hassle when following the instructions. James M. is accurate about the location of the auxiliary battery. The primary vehicle battery can be found underneath the front seat on the passenger side. To remove it, simply slide the seat all the way forward and take it out from the back seat.
