I won't assume the type of 2017 Volkswagen Touareg you own. If your vehicle has right-hand drive, the battery is likely located under the front passenger seat. For left-hand drive models, you'll find it beneath the driver's seat. To access the battery, there are two bolts at the front of the seat on the floor. Undo these bolts, tilt the seat back, and you'll have full access to the battery. If you need to jump-start your VW, remember there are specific terminals in the engine compartment for this purpose. Avoid trying to jump-start the vehicle directly from the battery as the whole point of moving it away from the engine is defeated.

Touaregs do not place their battery in the engine area like most vehicles; instead, it is situated under the front left seat, as Oliver mentioned. Some models even have a second battery located beneath the spare wheel.
