The cabin air filter for the 2009 Ford Explorer is situated behind the glove box. To reach it, you must take out the entire glove compartment and then remove a plastic trim piece located behind it. The original filter in your SUV is constructed of paper and effectively removes dust and larger particles. If you desire a filter that can capture more allergens, upgrading to a HEPA-rated filter is recommended. Additionally, scented filters are available on the market, which can prolong the freshness of your car's interior smell.

In my 2009 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition V6 4.0, I couldn't find an air cabin filter. I checked by removing the glove box, and there was no filter there. Additionally, I didn't see any mention of a cabin filter in my owner's manual.
