In a Ford F-150 from 2004, the cabin air filter can be found behind the glove box on the passenger side of the truck. To replace the cabin filter, start by clearing out the contents of the glove box and opening it up fully. Look for a screw on the lower right side; remove it if it's there (not all models will have this screw). Also, locate the plastic tabs along the box's edges and press them to allow the glove box to open further. Find a long plastic strip with tabs on each side; squeeze these tabs to remove the strip and access the air filter. Take out the old filter and install a new one before putting the plastic strip back and reassembling the glove box following the reverse steps.

Perhaps the Heritage edition has it, but my 2004 F150 with the newer design does not include that feature.

According to the shop manual, the air system in the 2004 F150 does not support a cabin air filter. You can ignore this suggestion because it doesn't pertain to your truck.
