The 2010 Hyundai Genesis 2.0 T has a Camshaft Positioning (CMP) sensor that is mounted on the right side of the engine compartment near the intake manifold and the back of the valve cover. This sensor is located below the cylinder head sealing line on the side where the belt is. Its main job is to determine the camshaft's position in relation to the crankshaft. This information is then sent to the powertrain control module to help regulate the fuel injector and ignition control system, determining the amount of fuel needed for combustion and power. Signs of a faulty sensor may include the engine light turning on, difficulty starting or failure to start the vehicle, as well as the vehicle jerking or surging forward during acceleration.
