The position sensor for the camshaft in a 2010 Toyota Camry is located on the right side of the engine underneath the power steering pump. It can be found at or below the cylinder head's valve cover sealing line on the belt side. This sensor contains a magnet and iron core wrapped in copper wire, fixed to the cylinder head. The information detected by the sensor is then sent to the powertrain control module to assist in determining the appropriate fuel injection and ignition control for combustion. If you suspect the sensor is faulty, look for signs such as the engine light turning on, difficulty starting the vehicle or failure to start at all, and experiencing jerking or surging when accelerating.
