In a 2010 Nissan Altima with a 2.5 liter engine, you can find the crankshaft position sensor located just below the starter on the driver side of the engine. To remove it, you'll need a 10-millimeter socket, extension, and ratchet. The easiest way to access it is from underneath the car, so you'll have to jack the car up. If you need to replace the sensor, you won't be able to start the car and drive it up ramps. Firstly, unplug the electrical connector connected to the sensor, then turn the hex head bolt counterclockwise to take it out. You may need to gently jiggle the sensor while pulling it to free it from its position. Be careful not to tighten the bolt too much when installing a new sensor to avoid cracking the plastic and damaging the sensor.
