In the 2013 Ford F-150 ecoboost, there is a crankshaft position sensor located in the engine compartment. To access it, start by going to the front of your truck and propping open the hood securely with the arm on the left (or passenger side). Inside the engine bay, towards the rear of the engine block, you'll find the starter. The sensor is located on top of the starter and is covered by a flap. If the sensor is not functioning properly, you will need to replace it. The cost for a new sensor typically ranges between $14 and $58.

All the stated responses are inaccurate. The sensor that monitors the crankshaft's position can be found between the engine block and flexplate on the rear driver's side. To reach this area, there is a shield made of aluminum positioned between the driver's side turbo and the block. After you are able to remove the shield, there is a rubber plug that needs to be taken out in order to access the sensor. It's important to disconnect the sensor before removing the mounting bolt that secures it in place. It is crucial not to drop the bolt because it can only be retrieved by separating the engine from the transmission. Once the bolt is out, you can extract the sensor and swap it with a new one. Keep in mind that all of this must be done through a small hole about the size of a golf ball located under and behind the turbo. The space is so constricted that it is unlikely you will be able to reach beyond the turbo. Ultimately, you might have to eliminate the turbo and manifold to gain proper access. Ensure beyond any doubt that the crank sensor is the source of the problem before proceeding. Best of luck!

The crank position switch is located at the back and underneath the turbo on the left side for the driver.
