The crankshaft position sensor on the 2015 Kia Rio is located right by the oil filter housing underneath the vehicle, towards the front of the engine near the transmission and facing the radiator. If you need to replace it, it's a pretty straightforward task that should take around 20 minutes for a car enthusiast and maybe an hour for a beginner. If you're seeing error code P0335, chances are you'll need to swap out the sensor. A new sensor for the 2015 Rio will cost around $80 to $95. You could either have a professional mechanic do the replacement for about $120 to $150 or save some money by doing it yourself.
I assembled a Kia Rio engine and just want to know that on the crankshaft there is a rotating plate that is picked up by the knock sensor to determine the location. Can this be detected in only one direction or what? My timing is perfect and there is fuel injection working well. I am unsure if the mechanics removed that plate to modify the crankshaft.
In the 2015 Kia Rio, you can locate the crankshaft position sensor beneath the engine, close to the timing cover.
