The Ford Transit has its block heater positioned near the front of the engine, primarily to aid in starting the engine more smoothly. The use of an engine block heater not only helps in the initial start-up but also warms up the engine oil, antifreeze, and other internal components, thus decreasing wear and tear, lowering emissions, and allowing the heater to provide heat more quickly for a comfortable interior. This is mainly required when the temperature drops below 5 degrees Fahrenheit, as on milder days, a remote starter or short idling time can effectively warm up the engine. Installing an engine heater can minimize the risk of engine damage and prolong the lifespan of your vehicle.

The heater core in the Ford Transit can be found beneath the dashboard, close to the steering wheel on the left side where the driver sits.
