The 2015 Ford Fusion has a device called the evaporative emission canister (EVAP) located on the driver's side near the rear tire, right before the muffler. This canister, made of plastic, has three hoses that allow fuel vapors to pass through along with an electrical harness. Its purpose is to prevent fuel vapors from escaping into the air by capturing and storing them in a charcoal canister. Once the engine warms up, the EVAP system releases these vapors into the engine where they are burned, just like the fuel. Without this system, a significant amount of gasoline would be wasted into the environment, harming both the planet and your wallet.
The canister houses the vent valve for the engine's purge valve.
The evap canister purge solenoid valve for the 2015 Ford Fusion is situated above the muffler at the rear of the evap canister.
