The EVAP canister, also known as the purge valve, found on the 2011 Chevy Malibu is positioned above the rear of the muffler. When the engine of your car operates at a consistent speed, the EVAP system permits these vapors to be released into the engine, where they are burned just like regular fuel. However, if the EVAP canister malfunctions, in addition to experiencing a rough idle, a vehicle with a failing purge valve will exhibit signs of diminished engine performance. The engine may seem to be running with less power and struggle to provide sufficient acceleration. Trying to accelerate may feel like stepping on the gas pedal but moving at a slower pace.
