The fuel filter in a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 is inside the fuel tank with the fuel sending unit. Both the pump and filter are in this unit and inserted from the tank's top cap. Previously, fuel filters were located in line under the vehicle, but manufacturers changed this due to fuel leak concerns. If you experience low fuel pressure, a clogged filter could be the issue, restricting fuel flow to the injectors.

When I'm driving at around 40 to 50 mph, I notice the engine RPM increases slightly and the engine revs up a bit. My initial concern was that it might be a transmission issue, but I'm hoping that's not the case. I'm wondering if it could be related to the fuel injectors or fuel filter instead? It only happens briefly, like for about 10 to 15 seconds, but then it occurs again a few minutes later.
