The 2010 Cadillac CTS fuel filter is located within the fuel pump assembly inside the gas tank. The manufacturer deems it a non-replaceable part, designed to outlast the vehicle's lifespan. Typically, when replacing the fuel filter, the fuel pump must also be taken out since the filter cannot be detached separately. Using the appropriate unleaded gasoline of the right octane rating should keep the fuel filter running smoothly, although low fuel efficiency could lead to issues. The cost of a new fuel filter ranges from $15 to $25 and is available at most car parts stores. Opting for professional installation by a mechanic can be expensive, totaling between $300 and $500 including labor and parts due to the complex procedure involved.

$500? I already shelled out $2000 to the mechanic for labor. They have to remove and shift the complete rear end and driveshaft to access the gas tank. Unfortunately, GM made a cost-cutting decision by not including an access door above the tank, which makes the job even more challenging.
