The fuel filter for a 2008 Ford Focus SE can be found positioned directly in front of the gas tank on the passenger side. To replace it, gather a jack, stand, ratchet with an extension, 7mm and 10mm sockets, and a fuel line disconnect tool. Initially, remove the fuel pump relay from the fuse box in the engine compartment. Start the vehicle to drain most of the fuel and relieve pressure from the lines. Once the car stops running, attempt to start it a few more times until it does not start anymore. Next, raise the car using the jack, positioning it in front of the rear passenger tire at the frame's designated lift point, and secure it with a jack stand once lifted adequately. Use the fuel line disconnect tool to detach the lines on both sides of the filter. Take care as some fuel may spill out once the filter is disconnected. Undo the 10mm bolt that secures the bracket to the car, then remove the filter. Reinstall the bracket onto the new filter by fastening it with a 7mm bolt.
