To change the fuel filter in a 2011 Ford Explorer, follow these steps recommended to be done every 30,000 to 40,000 miles. Start by disconnecting the black battery ground cable. Then, relieve the fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump relay and running the engine until it stalls. Crank the engine for an additional 5 seconds to ensure pressure is released, then turn off the ignition. Lift the vehicle and find the fuel filter on the passenger side near the front wheel well. Remove the heat shield and disconnect the couplings. Replace the fuel filter with a new one and reassemble everything in reverse order.
